Takes forever to acquire GPS signals, maps are sluggish, route recalculations are way too slow, especially when you miss a turn and need immediate assistance. It's simply too slow. Software is full-featured, but buggy. I wanted to like this, I really did. Small, portable, PC/Mac compatible.
Great help. Made a road trip to the East Coast and Tom Tom never failed me when I was around a city or looking for an address in rural New England.
Not a lot of time, but 2-3 minutes can mean a lot if you're on the freeway trying to find your exit. The only drawback is that you need to allow 2-3 minutes after turning on the GPS so it can callibrate your position between where you were (when you turned off GPS) and where you currently are. Plug in with ample time. The GPS is a fantastic tool and gift for my girlfriend that travels around the rural parts of illinois. She doesn't call me to google her directions over the phone anymore.
Tom Tom is considered a leader in the industry, but I'm not certain as I have mixed feelings about recommending this model.JTB in NC She also told me, that several times however that the product was not accurate, and this caused her frustration. I purchased this product for my wife to use, as she travels each day to different locations in her job. She stated that most of the time, the product was accurate.
Besides this inconvenience, maps and distances are very helpful. Because I have some sense of where I am going, I really don't need them. When there are long streets or avenues, addresses are accurately measured. The only thing difficult with the Tomtom ONE is that the use of the maps. After putting in the street numbers, the routes are difficult to use.
